All-round protection for visitors from abroad
For visitors from abroad: The optimal insurance cover
Foreign visitors from outside the EU who are staying in Europe for a certain period of time need health insurance that meets the requirements of the EU and local authorities in order to obtain a visa or residency permit.
Special rules apply here for entry into Austria. For stays up to 90 days, a “Care Economy” travel insurance policy can be taken out. For longer stays, foreign guests need “health insurance coverage covering all risks” according to the Settlement and Residency Act (§ 11 para. 2). Only a few health insurance policies can cover this. For this purpose, we offer the Care Concept plans, “Care Austria” or “Care Austria 364.” They are recognized by the Austrian authorities.
For entry into all other European countries, we offer the travel insurance plan “Care Economy,” which fulfills all requirements for the issuance of a Schengen visa. In addition, the health insurance can provide coverage for up to two years.
Typical non-EU foreign consumers of health insurance in Austria include:
- Individuals who do not yet have full-time employment in Austria
- Foreign students who come to Austria to study at an Austrian university
- People who come to Austria for an internship, a language course, as an au pair or as a visiting scholar
- People coming to Austria with a freelancer visa or a job seeker visa
We work together with one of the leading specialized providers in German-speaking countries – Care Concept AG. In case of illness or accident, the health insurance will cover the treatment costs on site. A medically advisable return trip to your home country is also insured. You can also add liability and accident insurance, including professional liability insurance, if you wish. Coverage provided by all insurance plans is also valid for a certain amount of time throughout the EU as well as during visits to your home country.
